Paula Abdul is always the most joked about judge on American Idol, with her nit wit comments, and loopy moments, it’s always been a matter of time until they replaced her for someone with a bit more guts to really tell the contestants how it is.
This year, they brought in a fourth judge, Kara Dioguardi, who was thought to be more or less auditioning for next season, when Abdul’s contract was up.
In a new interview with ABC’s Nightline to air this Thursday night, Abdul talks about her love and non desire to leave the show.
“I love the show, I do. I love what I do on the show. … It’s taken me a while to get comfortable in my own skin with the show,”
But hasn’t Paula seemed to be “in her own crazy skin” for all 8 seasons?
When the question came up about her possibly leaving the show and being replaced by a new judge when her contract runs out, Abdul explained; “I don’t think anyone (can). First of all, Kara says, ‘I could never replace you.’ And I said whenever there is change it’s not about replacing anybody it’s about possibly moving on.”
As nutty a judge as she may be, I think the show may lack it’s novelty factor with her not around. Some times the unexpected that comes out of her mouth is worth it!
idol wouldnt even stay in top 10 if they took her out. like you say, the format is old and predictable now. they need an unpredictable girl on the show in order to keep their viewers and paula abdul is that person. not to mention shes also a great judge, shes choreographing the group performance tonight
Simon basically confirmed he will quit idol after season 9 last week. it got Nowhere Near the attention paula is getting. SHE is the one from idol that gets people talking, year and year. they would be screwed without her. losing her would mean bye bye nr 1 spot
