He may have won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray, but giving him the lead in a biopic about the late great Frank Sinatra seems a little absurd right?
It’s being reported that Jamie Foxx is leading the race of actors who are hoping to play Sinatra in a biopic based on the rat pack singer.
The other actors in the running were said to be Leonardo DeCaprio and Harry Connick Jr. , but it was Foxx who is said to have caught the eye of director Martin Scorsese.
A source reported to Britain’s Daily Star; “Jamie would seem to be born to the role. Magnificent voice, convincing acting ability – like Frank himself – born the wrong side of the tracks, makes it big against all odds, has his brush with authority. The guy’s a gift.”
They do realize Sinatra was white, right? You can make a fictional character like James Bond or Superman African American if you’re trying to make a statement, but a biopic about the life of one of the greatest artists of all time? That’s not to be messed with!
