With the new promo posters causing a stir about being too racy as we posted last week on Starzlife.com, Gossip Girl Executive Producer Josh Schwartz is gearing up for the return of his show by making it unavailable for stream on the networks website.
Schwartz decided to move forward with the experiment because Gossip Girl is one of their most prized shows, (until the 90210 spinoff!!!) and the CW feels like it can be a breakthrough for it’s return. In addition to it’s Monday at 8pm time slot, the net work will re-air the previous episode on Sundays at 6pm.
Originally I thought maybe this sounded like a good idea, but the more I thought it out (for 10 seconds) I realized that just because it’s not available on the internet for streaming, the ratings shouldnt change a ton. People will still have DVR and other recording devices to be able to watch it at a later time, It will still be avalible for purchase on iTunes, it’s not like people are going to run out and buy cable for the sake of Gossip Girl.
