Vanessa Hudgens might be the hottest thing to hit the Disney channel ever, but singer might not be her true calling.
Vanessa Hudgens, whos sophomore album, Identified hit stores last week, has pretty much only sold enough to pay the rent. While her first album sold 34,000 in it’s first week, the follow up album, which is riding the wave of success from the High school Musical franchise, only managed to sell 22,000 copies.
Vanessa is in a tough spot, It’s still been less than a year since her nude photo scandal, leaving many parents of young girls (and boys) from even allowing their kids to say the V word in their house. Disney grooms all their stars into singers, with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, who were born and raised musicians before they dipped their feet into the acting pool over at Disney, being the most successful ones. Other Disney channel stars that have tried, or are still trying are Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lindsay Lohan, and their newest star, Demi Lovato.
Hudgens is also at the tough age where she has to record songs for the Radio Disney friendly audience, because she’s got to promote the third installment of the HSM franchise which will hit theaters in October, but she’s most likely older and more maturue than Radio Disney’s pre teen range at 19 going on 20.
Dont expect V to fall tho, there will always be movie roles with her name on them. And maybe a music career later down the road, as long as she doesn’t sing about sneakers anymore.
I think Vanessa’s album is amazing, but I do think she should have used one of her other songs like Hook it up or Identified.
