Dreamworks latest marketing move could become bigger than the Superbowl halftime show, or perhaps even the game itself!
They’ll be shelling out 10’s of millions of dollars to show a special three minute preview of their latest film, Monsters vs. Aliens during this years big game, in 3D!
Monsters vs. Aliens follows a group of ‘Earthling’ monsters who are out to save the world following an alien invasion featuring the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen and Kiefer Sutherland.
Dreamworks will pass out over 150 million pairs of 3D glasses at over 28,000 stores across America leading up to the game, which takes place the first week of February.
Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is calling this stunt “perhaps the biggest media-advertising event in history.” The company also says they are using the newest and best 3D technologies, so if by chance you don’t have the glasses, the image on the screen will almost look like normal television.
3D is the new breakthrough in home entertainment, sports games are even set to start being broadcast in 3D in 2009 and thereafter.
It’ll be like going to the game from the comfort of your own couch.
