Back when Michael Jackson sampled a piece of Manu Diabango’s 1972 song “Soul Makossa” as the riff on his 1983 hit “Wanna Be Startin Somethin” without authorization, the pair were eventually able to reach a settlement over the tune, but when Rihanna took the same bit of Jackson’s song for her 2007 hit, “Please Don’t Stop the Music,” Diabango found himself back in the same jam.
The 75-year-old Cameroonian singer has summoned Michael Jackson back to court on February 17th where both parties will work on another settlement.
Until then though, you may not hear the song being played on your local radio.
