Do we even believe rappers when they talk about retirement anymore?
For many American’s retirement is the day you look forward to for like 40 years of working. It’s the day you don’t have to go to work anymore and still get a paycheck!
Now clearly you can retire early, depending on income and savings and investments, and a person like 50 Cent could never make another record and live comfortably for the rest of his life off of his Vitamin Water investment alone, but why make it such a production?
50 Cent tells King Magazine, “It (next album) could very well be my last studio album if it doesn’t make sense for me to continue and actually do it.”
If that that’s a nice way of saying “how many records it sells,” then peace out, 50 Cent. The album should almost certainly tank when sized up to a Lil Wayne or a Kanye disc.
So what, he “retires” then, only to come back 2 years later with his “highly anticipated return from retirement.” It’s actually smart marketing.
Look where it got Jay-Z.
