Boston’s NBC affiliate WHDH has made an executive decision to not air Jay Leno’s new 10pm talk show when it starts airing next September.
The owner of the network said the decision was made because he doesn’t believe that Leno’s show will be successful, and he feels a local news cast is needed to compete with the Fox-affiliated WFXT-TV’s highly rated 10 p.m. newscast.
NBC heads are threatining to strip the network affiliation over the matter, and are calling it a violation of the network contract.
NBC has this one in the bag, but it will be interesting if the affiliate chooses to lose the peacock over their belief in the news program.
