A judge in Malawi has declined Madonna’s request to adopt a little girl, Mercy James, this morning after the pop star has been in the country for a week shmoozing the locals in hopes of taking the little girl back home with her this weekend.
The judges decision was based on the law that a perspective adoptive parent must live in Malawi for 18 months before being able to take a child home.
There’s not been an explination on why the judge allowed this rule to be pushed aside three years ago when Madonna took home little David Banda, but it was his opinion this time around that Mercy James would be better off in the care of her relatives.
