Steven Speilberg has landed himself the rights to a big time money maker!
Speils will be working on the biopic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. after acquiring the rights from the King estate.
Dr. King’s son Dexter, who is currently in charge of his estate has given clearance for Speilberg to use his fathers speeches, books and famous works, all of which were copyrighted during his life. Dr. King died at the young age of 39.
Speilberg told Variety.com of the plans for the film; “We are all honored that the King Estate is giving us the opportunity to tell the story of these defining, historic events. It is our hope that the creative power of film and the impact of Dr. King’s life can combine to present a story of undeniable power that we can all be proud of.”
Surely this news will send Hollywood into a frenzy over who should play MLK, considering they are already buzzing about who should play Barack Obama, and he hasn’t done squat yet.
Cuba Gooding Jr? You know Jamie Foxx is going to throw his name in the hat. Will Smith? or, in a Sinatra type move, how about casting Danny DiVito?
