Reality show “Jon and Kate Plus Eight“ attracted almost 10 million viewers for the season five premier, doubling the previous viewing audience, after rumors of alleged marital affairs. According to Robert J. Thompson, founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University, the audience has undergone a change. The show will “likely lose that particular audience who sat down and watched it with their kids.” Adding, And the show will add new viewers who are attracted to “a dishy train wreck reality show.”
Jon Gosselin denies recent allegations that he had an affair. He claims that he and the 23-year-old he met with were doing “nothing but hanging out. I take full blame…I didn’t think it would escalate into what it’s become.”
Kate says she believes that Jon is starting to “resent” the attention being brought on by the show. When asked about the state of their marriage Kate says “I wish I knew. Very swiftly we turned into two different people.”
