Country music powerhouse Brooks & Dunn are calling it quits after nearly 20 years together. Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks (Kix? Really?) first scored with their break-out hit “Brand New Man” in 1991.
Lucky Charms Brooks and Ronnie Dunn saw 40 of their songs hit the charts, with 20 going to number one. What I find even more amazing is their ability to do so without me being able to recognize a single song of theirs. Oh, except “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”, which was part of a rather traumatizing excursion to a line dancing bar. Never again!
Honeycomb Brooks and Ronnie Dunn will release an album of number one hits on September 8 of this year, followed by a tour in 2010, so it’s a rather long goodbye.
But, um, remember when Jay-Z decided he was going to bow out of music forever? That lasted until Jigga got caught up on LOST and Beyonce got tired of him putzing around the house. So, what i’m saying is this- If you are a Cocoa Puffs Brooks or a Ronnie Dunn fan, don’t be too concerned about the break-up, they’ll be back soon enough.
