After being detained by police this weekend for allegedly using violence on MTV reality star Tila Tequila, the San Diego Chargers’ Shawne Merriman released a statement claiming that he was only trying to hold her back from driving while under the influence.
Well miss “Tequila” has finally spoken , updating her Twitter page to say the following;
“I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila “Tequila” cuz the irony. I cant drink.“
Oh really? So it was water and diet coke day at The Abbey when we spotted you out with Perez Hilton?
Now while I personally can not prove that it was not just a glass of tonic and lime or a simple diet coke with lime that Tila was drinking in the photos below, the presence of bottled water on the tables at The Abbey would leave me to believe that they don’t just serve up tap water.. Anyone from The Abbey care to elaborate?
While there’s still an ongoing investigation as to what actually happened that night in San Diego, Let’s hope Tila isn’t trying to make up a fake allergic reaction to alcohol to make it look better on her part.
Also it should be noted alcohol isn’t the only thing that can altar your state of mind and impare your driving. Just a fact. This is Hollywood people.
Violence is never the answer, surely Shawne Merriman would know that especially when dealing with a 4’11 93 lb woman. If he did in fact assault Tila, he deserves whatever punishment he gets.

Lets be real. If Shawne Merriman, tried to assault her at all their would have been apparent injuries. She didn’t have any injuries so no charges have been filed against him. She was probably hammered and acting up. If that’s what happened she should just fees up instead of making herself sound stupid. There is no such thing as an alcohol allergy, you can be allergic to certain types of liquors (for example: I’m allergic to Tequila because of the agave juice), but not alcohol in general.
