Be born rich: Paris’ scion status is right there in her surname: being the daughter of one of America’s richest hoteliers is what earned her the label “heir-head” from Page Six. Kim’s silver spoon came courtesy of her mega-successful late father, Robert Kardashian, a business man and lawyer best known for his stint on OJ’s dream team.
Film a reality show: The Simple Life chronicled Paris and Nicole Richie traversing the country and meeting poor people for the first time. Yuck! The Kardashian clan’s aggressively low-concept series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, followed Kim and Co. from the tanning salon to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. It was escapist wealth porn and proud of it.
Film a sex tape: A sex tape leak is every starlet’s worst nightmare, even though every leaked sex tape has only bolstered its star’s public profile. Paris Hilton’s exposure went wide with the release of One Night In Paris, her night-vision romp with Rick Salomon; her successor rolled around with Ray J in an amateur skin flick widely distributed on the net.
Attend the opening of an envelope if press is there: You can’t call yourself a socialite if you aren’t out socializing. Paris Hilton charges for party appearances these days, but there’s a good chance you can corral Kim Kardashian if you ask nicely and promise a gift bag.
Date famous: Paris has dated so many athletes, actors, and trust-funders she’s been written about in Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, and Forbes . Google’s auto-complete will actually bring up “Kim Kardashian boyfriend list” if you start typing it. Lesson: you can pick up chlamydia and extra fame the same way.
