Naturally the AMA Awards would honor Michael Jackson’s legacy at this years upcoming show considering it’s the first since his passing, but don’t you guys think 5 nominations might be a bit much?
Jackson was nominated for Artist of the year, as well as favorite male artist and best album in both the Pop/Rock category as well as the R&B/Soul category.
His album release was a collection of his number ones, which shouldn’t count towards an album of the year, and he could be in the favorite male artist category every year, but so could many other legendary musicians who haven’t done much this year if you’re going to open it up to a wide playing field like that.
This all seems like more of a ratings ploy to me. Sure he was making his comeback, sure he sold out 50 dates in London in seconds, sure his new single was guaranteed to sell like crazy when it was released, but most of that never got to happen…
Either way, it will be nice to see the mans legacy as King of Pop honored, but hopefully the other artists don’t take it the wrong way!
