Andy Milonakasis‘s mainstream presence has waned considerably from the heights achieved with his MTV series, but his web output remains as prolific as ever. It’s also better. Andy’s aggressive idiocy began to wear thin the longer his show stayed on the air, which only makes sense, because it would also go from funny to annoying halfway through an episode. Back in his wheelhouse – recording and self-publishing one-take videos shot on webcams – Andy’s on top of his game lately. Some recent hits:
Here. This video is titled “Do You Like My Hair” and made me laugh.
Andy’s MC skills have also improved dramatically. He’s ditched so-bad-it’s-semi-funny flow employed in earlier videos and stepped his game up to the point where he’s a credible rapper in his own right. In fact, kid spits fire: Never smoke crack, but I eat it / Bought Legend of Zelda and I beat it to “Beat It” /That’s right, MJ was playing in the background / Used to rap wack, but I think I got the knack down
And then there’s this: Andy first great song, by which I mean a real, professionally produced track with a chorus and original beat and proper mastering and everything. I’m 99% sure it was produced by Diplo, because I just called the customer service line at Turntable Lab and asked if it was produced by Diplo and the guy said, “I’m 99% sure it was produced by Diplo but don’t quote me on that.” Oops.
I can’t believe he took down the song about raping and murdering Natalie Portman.
