Simon Cowell has spoken out for the first time about who would be good to replace him on the next season of American Idol.
You might even be shocked by what he has to say!
Cowell has notoriously been known as the “meanie” for the past 9 seasons, so of course he thinks it must be someone capable of being critical.
He says during a recent interview;
“It’s interesting that when [Idol] first started, we had a record producer, an artist, and an A&R man [as judges], so you had covered pretty much everything,” Cowell explains. “I think over the years judges have been replaced by personalities. That in the long-term will create problems because you’ve got to be able to spot a star.”
A few names have been rumored to fill his chair, Howard Stern being one, though Cowell’s response of “He plays records [on his show], so I guess it could work,” doesn’t seem too assuring. The interviewer noted that he said that with a bit of a shrug in his voice as well.
As for Perez Hilton, who has been campaigning for himself to become the new Idol judge, Cowell actually thinks it could work out! He said; “Perez would be funny. He’s got a good taste in music; he’s a personality.”
Shocking revelaton from Mr. Cowell. Could Perez Hilton handle the job? Time will tell. But with Cowell’s stamp of approval, you can assure we haven’t heard the last of him.
