Bad news for all of you Friday Night Lights fans out there.
NBC has revealed plans to mess up the fifth season of Friday Night Lights, by dropping Jesse Plemons’ character of Landry Clarke, or at least only having him on a part time basis.
Plemons’ character was a senior at East Dillion in the 4th season, which just wrapped on DirecTV and will air on NBC starting April 30, but the rumor has it that his character will still remain a Dillon resident post grad during the 5th season.
It’s also recently been revealed that Tim Riggins, played by Taylor Kitsch will not be returning for season five either.
Looks like we may be facing a total FNL makeover.
Executive producer Jason Katims explains that deciding to let Plemons go was a tough decision, which was made due to lack of story lines.
“With Jesse — as with previous cast members who have moved on — Pete Berg, myself and the producers of the show let the storytelling guide us,” he explains, “and we feel we didn’t have substantial enough storylines to justify keeping such an immensely talented actor from pursuing what we know will continue to be a very successful career. “Jesse has created one of Friday Night Lights finest and most beloved characters,”
Let’s hope that’s the truth and that there’s no politics involved here. Plemons character could be THE thing that picked this show up off the ground when it was down.
They sky is the limit for Jesse though, who appeared in some big named blockbusters last year, as well as kicked off a singing career, with a couple of his songs being played during episodes of Friday Night Lights.
If you’re in the LA area you can catch him sing tomorrow (March 9) at Genghis Cohen in West Hollywood at 7:30.
