Celebrities have been known to get special treatment when it comes to serving jail sentences, and Paris Hilton is no stranger to this type of thing.
So why would it surprise anyone that just hours after being arrested for cocaine possession in Las Vegas last month, Paris was tucked into her bed just hours later.
Generally, someone brought in for that offense serves eight to twenty four hours before being released, Paris served just three.
According to LVMP Deputy Jim Dixon, there was a method to his madness, and it wasn’t just letting Paris off the hook early for being Paris.
Jim tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Yeah, she was treated differently so I don’t have a disruption of my process here at the county jail.”
Dixon further explains:
“When you bring somebody in like that, everybody comes over and tries to look at them. I’d have officers attempting to keep inmates away from her. I’d have disruptions.
She was moved along out of the general area and put in isolation where nobody can actually get to her,” Dixon said, claiming that Hilton couldn’t be left alone with uncuffed inmates. “That wouldn’t be fair to her. It wouldn’t be fair to my officers. It wouldn’t be fair to the other inmates … To put Paris Hilton in an open dorm area with male inmates and female inmates would shut down my process.”
He’s got a point. Throwing her in there would be the equivalent of tossing in a steak dinner!
However, once she was put in isolation, she should have been forced to serve out the same punishment that you or I would have.
