The battle between the voice of Dora the Explorer and Nickelodeon is heating up!
Both sides are firing back and fourth with one another, but a new statement from Caitlin Sanchez’s family includes a recording that is said to prove Nickelodeon wanted her to voice the character through June 2012.

Caitlin Sanchez and her parents, in response to Nickelodeon’s public statement last week on October 7th, 2010 in reference to the lawsuit that they were forced to file against Viacom and its subsidiaries, would like to release the following audio file that captures Nickelodeon’s own Jodi Davis (Vice President of Communications, Nickelodeon) explaining to Hilda Sanchez (Caitlin’s mother) that Nickelodeon wants Caitlin to be the face and voice of Dora for the next 2 years. This is in total contradiction to their public statement that implied that Nickelodeon “dropped” Caitlin as Dora because her voice had changed and she was no longer able to portray the character, when in actuality, Nickelodeon wanted Caitlin to continue to portray the Dora character through June of 2012. In fact, Nickelodeon’s other public statement stated that they “did in fact offer Caitlin a contract for other work with them”, is another egregious lie. The only other work Nickelodeon had ever contractually offer Caitlin was another two-year, exclusive contract to portray Dora the Explorer through June of 2012.
This conversation was captured on July 13th, 2010. This audio file will expose Nickelodeon’s public statement as an egregious lie perpetuated by their own representatives in an attempt to damage the reputation and discredit the claims of 14 year old Caitlin Sanchez, voice of Dora the Explorer.
Caitlin Sanchez would like to express the fact that she last recorded as Dora on September 30th, 2010. So obviously, Nickelodeon had no problems with Caitlin’s voice or ability to portray the Dora character.

If the Sanchez family is only after money here, they’ve definitely thought this one out! We wouldn’t be surprised if the big bad corporation is trying to screw them, though!
