We already know Taylor Swift isn’t afraid to write about her past relationships right down to the first name, so this comes with zero surprise.
On her new album, Speak Now, which is out in about a month, we already know she’s got a song about how SHE messed things up with a guy who we presume is Taylor Lautner, but also a song about a guy who messed things up with her.
Consensus speculation: John Mayer!
The song is titled Dear John, and there was that brief time they were showing up to the same places, having rumored romantic dinners, and it all lasted about a week.
Just check the lyrics, sounds like John Mayer too. We’ll probably never get a yes or no from her either, but that’s all part of the fun.
“Dear John/I see it all now that you’re gone/Don’t you think I was too young/To be messed with/The girl in the dress/Cried the whole way home/I should’ve known.”
“It was wrong/Don’t you think nineteen’s too young/To be played/By your dark, twisted games/When I loved you so.”
“My mother accused me of losing my mind/But I swore I was fine…”
“You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand/And I’ll look back in regret I ignored what they said/’Run as fast as you can’.”
Do you think she should take a more quiet approach to these songs? Or does her open-ness make it that much better?
