As a pilot wishing for my Baron 58 back to fly. I always had a dream to fly in Alaska and the episodes are awesome and makes me rethink my flying choices. Great program!
On this evenings program,(Jan 21st), your comentator stated that flying by visual reference to
familiar objects on the ground is known as “Dead Reconing” this is not true. It ts known as
“Pilotage”.
Dead Reconing is done by flying from a known starting place, in a known direction. at a known rate of speed, for a known length of time. This will result in your arrival at a known location and no
reference to the ground is required. This method was used by Lindberg crossing the Atlantic.
Comment “You made a mistake.
I am proud to see my son (Tommy Baynard) doing the thing he has enjoyed for many
years and that was taken photographs all over the world, and now producing a interesting
life story of a hard working family in Alaska..
