Could Mario Lopez be on the fast track to New York City?
Lopez, who is currently the host of TV’s Extra is said to be one of the leading candidates to replace Regis Philban as the host of Live alongside Kelly Ripa on the daily morning talk show.
The competition seems stiff, though. EW has a list of 10 people who’s names are being thrown around to replace Philban and the list includes:
Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, Mario Lopez, Chris Harrison, Chris Cuomo, Anderson Cooper, Billy Bush, Neil Patrick Harris and Mike Rowe.
Also included on the list are Nick Jonas, Bryant Gumbel, Glenn Beck, Tom Bergeron and Larry King, but those names are being called too “silly” to mention with the others by EW.
We think Lopez has a good shot! Seacrest is running LA at the moment and a move to NYC would be more of a hassle, and while Anderson Cooper would make a great host, we think Lopez matches up with Ripa better for the gig.
Regis announced this month that it would be his final season on the show, so the hunt is on.
I think Mario Lopez would be a great replacement. He’s young, good looking, and has a great personality.
When I heard that Regis was leaving his show, my first thought was Mario Lopez would make the perfect replacement. He seem to never have a loss for words and has a great connection with the public.
