Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is making his return to the ring!
The former wrestler turned movie star announced last night on WWE’s Monday Night Raw that he will be returning for the sports biggest night, Wrestlemania XXVII on April 3rd in Atlanta, Georiga.
“The most electrifying man of all of entertainment is hosting the most electrifying event of all of entertainment,” The Rock said in his promo video featured below.
No word on the capacity of his hosting duties for the event, but we have to assume someone is going to give him some trouble and find themselves on the receiving end of a peoples elbow.
The Rock was one of the sports biggest stars in the late 90’s and early 2000’s before leaving it all behind for Hollywood to begin what has become a pretty successful movie career.
As WWE’s transition to a new generation of super stars has lead to the decline in viewership over the past ten years, (though it still has a very large following) they have recruited celebs to come and host numerous pay-per-view events, as well as their weekly Monday night show on USA.
Early rumors were that Justin Bieber was being tapped to host Wrestlemania, but The Rock seems like just as smart of a business decision.
