Katy Perry has come under fire this past week, after being accused of bad mouthing Britney Spears and her use of product placement in the newly released video for her first single off of ‘Femme Fatale,’ ‘Hold it Against Me.’
Perry took to her Twitter.com page to clear up the rumors that she bad-mouthed Spears, and to make it clear that she is not against product placement in music videos as long as it’s done with “style and grace.”
Perry Writes: “Please note I expressed an overall feeling about product placement, their roles in vids & the art of them being complimenting or sticking out. Most, if not ALL popsters welcome deals w/products to offset costs of big budget vids in these recessional music industry times.”
“I’ve used them in MY vids before & am happy to be able to make a better vid because of (product placement). Once AGAIN, stop pitting artists against artist for ur (your) sensational satisfaction.”
Occasionally, the placements look way over the top as if they do not belong, but that’s the point! That’s how you get it burned into your brain.
