After some drama in the personal life of ‘Sonny With a Chance’ star Demi Lovato, could Disney be ready to cut ties with the actress who has recently spent some time in rehab dealing with anger management and other issues?
It was recently revealed that Lovato would not be returning for the show’s third season, but the show would carry on without her in her absence, but a new development at Disney could spell the end of Lovato for good on the show.
Disney announced that they would be changing the name of the show this coming season to ‘So Random.’ Though Disney has said Lovoto could return to the show should she get well enough to do so, the name change and re-branding is a sign that they are not expecting her to do so.
One of the show’s stars thinks all will be well in the end. Lovoto co-star Brandon Mychal Smith explains; “With a show like ours, and any great show that I’ve seen in the past, like The Wire or Seinfeld, each season you focus on a different concept, a different theory, or maybe a different character’s background.
“Season one we established who we were – you saw some mini sketches, you saw who the characters were and how they mingled and intertwined. Season two you were able to see more of the relationship between Sonny and Chad and how they got into it and how we didn’t like it, and you saw some of Mackenzie Falls and that aspect.
“And now this season you’ll be able to see So Random, see why we are where we are today in regards to being the teen idols that we are. You’ll be able to see how we bring the funny (sic) every week.”
