Lady Gaga has officially disbanded her partnership with retail giant Target due to their controversial policies on political donations, according to a report.
The two sides had been butting heads since beginning negotiations, with Gaga telling Billboard.com at one point, “That discussion (with Target) was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting… Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those (anti-gay) groups.”
Now the store decided that they will not make any promises against donating money to any political candidate who may have an anti-gay stance, causing for Gaga to pull out of the deal with Target.
Gaga has still agreed to release a special edition of her album through Target if they will increase their support for the LGBT community, but a representative for Gaga tells E! Online, “Lady Gaga and Target came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago.”
