Snoop Dogg will be getting a pretty prestigious honor of his own this coming month when he receives the BMI Icon Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
The title has been previously awarded to James Brown, George Clinton, Willie Nelson and Al Green.
The BMI event honors urban songwriters who have “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers” and belong to Broadcast Music, Inc., – a performance rights organization which represents more than 475,000 songwriters, composers and publishers.
The ceremony will be held August 26 at the Pantages theater in Los Angeles.
