Kanye West spent Monday afternoon on the front lines of New York City’s Occupy Wall Street protest.
The rapper joined rap mogul Russell Simmons at the protest, who has been a frequent face in NYC’s Zucotti Park since the protest started.
Simmons tweeted on Monday afternoon, “I just walked @kanyewest thru the #occupywallstreet. I love how sweet and tolerant he was to the crowd.”
West was forced to leave the scene shortly after after he was surrounded by a mob of fans.
Occupy Wall Street, which began three weeks ago in New York, has now spread to 72 U.S. cities.
Most of the protesters have been left unemployed and homeless by the recession and subsequent economic downturn.
