A radio prank has landed Nick Cannon in trouble with PETA.
Cannon and his radio co-hosts pretended to send a pet dog into the sky attached to 50 helium balloons, and after posting the video online, reported to listeners that the stunt had gone wrong and that the pup was missing.
Canon quickly found out that not everyone thought the prank was funny. He wrote to his Twitter page:
“I think I might be getting fired… boss just told me PETA is on the phone. DAMN… Radio bit gone seriously wrong @923Nowfm … Probably won’t have a job in the morning… They are saying the program director, my producer and I are getting arrested. This can’t be serious!”
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk released a statement saying: “If bad taste were a crime, we’d be going to jail with Nick, but joking about killing a dog, a kid, an old person – anyone – isn’t cool when there’s always the danger that some numbskull will do it for real.”
Actually a semi valid point from PETA for once. However, the prank is pretty hilarious from a joke standpoint and the fact that no animals were harmed!
