Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry auction has set a world record!
The auction fetched $118 million dollars with buyers phoning in from around the world to bid on the late actresses jewels.
Several of the items even sold for more than 10 times their estimated value.
One item that sold for $600,000 was a diamond and sapphire ring given to the Taylor by Michael Jackson. The 33.29-carat Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, which was a gift the actress received from Richard Burton, sold for $8.8 million.
Marc Porter, chairman of Christies said in a statement, “This is without a doubt the greatest private collection of jewelry ever assembled in one place.”
Portions of the proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.
