Rappers releasing brands of head phones are the equivalent of a female musician with a fragrance.
Dr. Dre has his “beats,” while Jay Z quietly has his own line, as does Ludacris and now 50 Cent.
But 50 Cent will be giving back portions of the proceeds from the sale of his line to help hungry children.
Back in July, 50 Cent revealed he’d be turning over some of the proceeds from sales of his Street King energy drink to help feed 1 Billion starving African children in just two and a half years.
Now he’s planning to include portions of the sales from his SMS Audio headphone range to help the cause here in the states.
He tells MTV News, “Because of my Street King initiative, with every purchase there’s a meal being provided through the United Nations World Food Program. And with this actual project, I decided I wanted to do something here in America.”
“So for every pair of these headsets that are sold domestically and online through SMSAudio.com, 250 meals will be provided by Feeding America, which is our leading charitable organization against hunger.”
