Cher is the latest victim of the Twitter celebrity death hoax.
Last night “RIP Cher” began trending on the social networking site. It starts with a few people who want to get the rumor going, but spreads like wild fire when people respond with it even if just to question it.
Some were falling for it, including Kim Kardashian, who tweeted: “Did I just hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG”
Internet sleuths seem to have found the Tweet that started it all as well. From the account “@Lorraine_Star,” who faked a retweet from CNN.
She wrote, “RT @CNN: American recording artist Cher dies at 65 years old. Found dead in Malibu home.”
