Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry had his own day in court on Wednesday, testifying against accusations that he hit cast member Nicolette Sheridan in the altercation that ultimately lead to her firing from the show.
Cherry maintains it was Sheridan struggling with her dialogue, and criticizing her co-stars and upsetting writers with her remarks about their scripts that lead to her firing from the show.
He noted one incident with Teri Hatcher in which Sheridan pulled him to one side and insisted her co-star was “the meanest woman in the world”.
Another scene in which Cherry testified about, he claimed Sheridan couldn’t get her dialogue right: “She only had five or six lines and she had come to the set and didn’t know any of them. This wasn’t the only time this had happened.”
The actress maintains she was fired from the show after she complained to TV network bosses about an incident when Cherry hit her on the head.
As for Cherry’s version of events which the actress calls the alleged assault, Chery claims he was merely demonstrating a scene to his former star.
Cherry claims it was months of Sheridan’s unprofessional behavior that lead to the decision to write her off the show, and the trail is moving forward.
