Gabriela Cedillo, an extra in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ has reached a settlement worth $18.5 million with the producers of film after an on set accident.
The stuntwoman was driving a car in a scene while filming, when a cable holding another vehicle snapped and struck her in the head, slicing open her skull and leaving her partially paralyzed and with brain damage.
The actress was airlifted to a hospital in Indiana for emergency surgery where she was forced to have part of her skull removed. She now suffers from seizures and memory problems, as well as losing vision in one of her eyes.
Bosses at Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Studios had originally agreed to cover all of Cedillo’s medical bills, which reached $350,000 according to a report on TMZ, however they had failed to do so up until now.
After an investigation of the scene and set of the film, Indiana’s division of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) determined that the filmmakers were not to blame for the “unfortunate” and “unforeseeable” incident.
The two parties have settled to the tune of $18.5 million dollars.
