After nearly 10 years, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones returned to the big screen and were able to dethrone the super hero smash hit, ‘The Avengers,’ from the top of the box office.
MIB3 earned $55 million over the holiday weekend, which beat out ‘The Avengers,’ which grossed $37 million after three weeks at the top of the charts.
This marks Will Smith’s first return to the big screen in nearly four years, and it proves he’s still got it.
“Battleship” took the third spot this weekend with $10.8 million, while “The Dictator” earned $9.6 million to land fourth. Coming in at five is “Chernobyl Diaries” with $8 million.
