Matthew McConaughey was almost all set up to play President John F. Kennedy in Lee Daniels’ ‘The Butler,’ but has backed out of the film last minute.
Matty was hand picked by the director to play opposite Minka Kelly’s Jackie Kennedy in the film, which is a biopic of White House servant Eugene Allen, however McConaughey thinks the role is best left to another actor.
MM tells movie new website, 24Frames.com, “It’s not going to happen for me. It was going to take some good hard work on my part for sure – and it was more than an accent. I’ve done accents before. And you can see, you can tell when it’s just coming out from the neck up.”
“When you see it done well, they walk different, they sit different – it’s coming out of their feet. There was a lot of work that I was looking forward to putting in on that. But, for certain true reasons, it’s not going to happen.”
The film features Forest Whitaker as Allen, who served under eight presidents, and Oprah Winfrey as his wife.
