Could Regis Philbin be reuniting with Kathie Lee Gifford on The Today Show?
Rumors are swirling that the former co-hosts from “Live” may reunite in an effort to distract viewers from other drama happening behind the scenes at the popular morning show.
Philbin has expressed desire to return to TV, and joined Gifford for a special appearance on the program this past week, which kicked the rumors off, mainly on the internet.
The idea would reportedly deflect attention from Ann Curry’s departure from the show. Since Curry has taken over for Meredith Vieira, the show’s ratings have dropped with many complaining about her lack of chemestry with Matt Lauer.
NBC has yet to comment on Curry’s firing or replacement, with a few other names being thrown around as replacement as well, including Kathie Lee’s co-host, Hoda Kotb.
