Fox broadcasting presented a panel for ‘The X-Factor’ to the Television Critics Association via satellite from Miami, and Cowell offered up his opinion on Mariah Carey being the new addition to his former show, ‘American Idol.’
Of the new hire, Cowell explained, “I’m happy for her actually,” Cowell said, adding, “I like Mariah. I think she’s going to find it difficult to say no. You’ve got to say no to people. She’s sweet but I think she’ll be great. I got wind of this last week so I knew it was going to happen.”
Idol is still seeking out a third judge for the upcoming season, to join Carey and Randy Jackson, and some possible names being thrown around are Nick Jonas and Alanis Morissette.
Simon Cowell’s ‘X-Factor’ will have a new look this season as well, with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining him and L.A. Reid on the judges panel. The search is still on for a host of the series’ second season, after Steve Jones was let go following season one as well.
I think Mariah will be an amazing job and she will figure it all out and what she needs to do. I’m glad she’s a judge on one of my favorite primetime shows. I watch all my AI shows when they are recorded off PrimeTime Anytime. I can stay focused on my show instead of having to manually fast forward every ten minutes using the Auto Hop feature. I’m glad my coworker from Dish got me hooked on this series. I love the option that I can skip my commercials on my primetime shows a day after they have recorded. When I heard about the Auto Hop feature, I thought about the shows that I record, and I realized most of them played during primetime. This will save some wear and tear on the remote since I recently had to replace it.
