Mariah Carey is in, and Nicki Minaj is reportedly almost in, but that still leaves one or two spots on the judges panel open for the upcoming season of American Idol.
Randy Jackson has yet to sign on for the next season of the show, so producers are looking to secure interest for a third or fourth judge, depending on his decision.
The latest name to emerge is Kanye West. According to the new reports on the Internet, West is very interested in the opportunity of joining the Idol judges panel, but would require a similar deal to that of Mariah Carey, who is being paid a reported $18 million dollars.
Another name out there at the front of the rumors is Enrique Iglesias. Iglesias’ tour with former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez would be concluded in time for him to take on the Idol judging duties, and he would be a little cheaper than Kanye West in the long run, but would the show shell out the cash for the bigger name without blinking an eye?
In the earlier days yes, but with the shows ratings dropping each season, paying out a ton of cash with a risk of no reward could be a tough decision for the FOX series.
How would Kanye West fare as a judge on American Idol?
