Britney Spears was celebrated (?) on the latest episode of ‘Glee,’ which was advertised as Britney 2.0. The episode aired just minutes after her latest episode of ‘The X Factor’ concluded on Thursday night, and centered around her public meltdown, rather than her high points of her comeback.
The episode of the hit FOX show featured a scene where Heather Morris’ character, Brittany S. Pierce, attacks a high school journalist with an umbrella, similar to the events in 2008 where Spears attacked paparazzi with an umbrella following a head-shaving incident. The show also mimicked her 2007 performance of ‘Gimme More’ at the MTV VMAs, where she lip synced and appeared a little out of rhythm from her former self.
Friday morning, TV personality Billy Bush of Access Hollywood, called the episode a “low blow,” and admitted that he had been in touch with Spears’ manager Larry Roudolph, who revealed he had not seen or heard about the episode prior to it’s airing on the network. Bush revealed, “I can tell you that Britney’s manager, Larry, is livid. He’s not happy.”
Spears appeared on a previous episode of the show, where her hit songs were celebrated in a positive light.
Though a lot of her hits were sang in this episode, it were the negative moments that are causing the stir.
What did you think of Britney 2.0?
