Hundreds of fans lined up as early as last Thursday to camp out for the best view of 1D this morning, and the campsites lined the streets near Rockefeller Plaza stretching for almost one fifth of a mile through Midtown Manhatton.
Many local businesses complained, and there were fears that the line was blocking bus lanes and affecting traffic.
Officials at NBC handed out wristbands for the first 600 fans on Monday and ordered everyone to disperse until 2am on Tuesday morning according to the New York Post.
According to some sources in NYC, NBC was forced to push the stage back an entire block in order to accommodate the legions of fans who showed up.
