Madonna continued her billion-dollar ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour‘ in Bucharest last night, and did something she’s not known for. She courted controversy.
Speaking to an audience of thousands of Romanians, the 51 year-old Detroit native affirmed her hatred toward the discrimination of gypsies in Eastern Europe. Mrs. Jesus said that it made her “sad” and that nobody should be discriminated against.
The 60,000-strong crowd’s response? Collective booing.
We gotta give it to the girl. Heidi Montag, she ain’t. She may not wanna say what’s gonna make her popular, but she still says it.

Opposition to discrimination is a universal theme, so I find nothing courageous about Madonna’s statement. If you’ve seen the video, she wasn’t really booed and it seemed the crowd was clueless about what she was saying. She welcomes any controversy and publicity. I think Madonna is a progressive who does not discriminate….rather, she treats everyone like crap, regardless of their race, creed, sexual orientation, etc. She’s a (aging) megalomiac who has always seemed to be a hideous human being. But, her message of general equality is important, all the same.
