Video game Guitar Hero has a feature which allows players to have their favorite rock singer sing other artists’ music. One of the digital legends available is Kurt Cobain– and Courtney Love ain’t having it.
The grunge rocker can be made to sing Bon Jovi, which Courtney sees as an affront to her dead husband. She signed a deal with video game maker Activision allowing Cobain’s likeness to be used, but swears she didn’t agree to the Bon Jovi singing.
Courtney tweeted some rambling mumbo jumbo, calling it a ‘rape’. Her lawyer cooked up a statement which was a little more coherent-
“Activision is exploiting Kurt’s image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence. I along with Ms. Cobain hope those who love Kurt’s music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of Bon Jovi.”
You’d think that they put Cobain in blackface, with a swastika tattoo, yelling Heil Hitler. Ferchrissake, all they did was have him sing some beloved Jersey rock. Get over it!
