Mario Lopez! Mario was chosen by the mag as their hottest bachelor for 2008 and was up against some stiff competition.
Of the others in the running, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado from The Hills, the 2008 American Idol, David Cook, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl, actor Gerard Butler, and even Britney’s brother, Bryan Spears. <– umm?
None the less People decided to go with someone who has been idolized by many for over 15 years, Saved by the bell’s A.C. Slater.
Lopez, paid the bills by hosting gigs on Animal Planet, revived his career when he appeared on Dancing With the Stars a couple of seasons ago, and went the distance making it to the finals, and finding love with his dance partner, Karina Smirnoff. The pair kept a pretty private relationship but has just recently broken up.
Mario revealed to People that he has a bunch of current projects he is working on, including hosting America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV, and starring in A Chorus Line on Broadway, and that it’s keeping him from dating, but he added that;
“I like a girl who’s from a modest sort of upbringing, because it’s more relatable,” he says, explaining what he looks for in a potential girlfriend. “I’m a first-generation American. My parents [Elvia and Mario Sr.] emigrated from Mexico and live in the same house I grew up in Chula Vista, Calif. I’d feel weird if the girl was a little too uppity or affluent, because I’m a very down-home kind of guy.”
And now…nostalgia:
