American Idol is doing the unthinkable for it’s upcoming season… Adding a 4th Judge to the “sounds just right when you say it” combination of Simon, Paula, and Randy. In an attempt to even up the genders, Idol will be adding record producer Kara DioGuardi.
In a statement released by Simon Fuller, the Idol creator said;
“We are turning the heat up on Idol this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges’ table.”
DioGuardi has produced songs for a number of hit records, including Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Pink, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.
Her work has also been used by past Idol contestants, including Katharine McPhee, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, and Clay Aiken.
Basically we can expect her to know her shit. The only one who may have to worry about this is Paula Abdul, she’s already labeled as “the loon” on the show, so bringing in some hot new young girl to judge could mean the end is in Paula’s near future.
Paula has already voiced her concerns on this move during a Monday morning radio interview, saying;
“I am concerned about the audience and acceptance. Time will tell. We’ll see.”
“They always tried for a fourth judge because it followed the format of the original show, Pop Idol,” Abdul said. “We haven’t had much luck with that working, but we’re gonna give it another try.”
“It takes the fun out of all the hard work I do to push those kids through,”
Whatever Paula, I like the new girl, she’s hot, just stick to your usual pre-show routine and you wont even notice she’s sitting next to you.
