Lance Armstrong is retiring from cycling… Again.
The seven time Tour de France winner attempted retirement back in 2005, but thought he had one more in him and returned to the sport for another go. He wound up placing third, and has finally decided to hang up his yellow tights.
In addition to winning the 7 tours, Armstrong, a testicular cancer survivor has raised over $400 million dollars through his Livestrong foundation for cancer survivors, which is quite the accomplishment.
In a statement, Armstrong explains, “I can’t say I have any regrets. It’s been an excellent ride. I really thought I was going to win another tour, then I lined up like everybody else and wound up third.”
Armstrong plans to take his time off to spend time with his family, something that his schedule has prohibited him from doing during his career as a cyclist.
We hope this isn’t just Brett Favre speak here, and wish him the best in his retirement.
