Sacha Baron Cohen had reportedly been banned from The Oscar’s this coming weekend, over fears of what he may have planned as part of his grand arrival, however reps for the show are disputing the report and claiming that the actor has not been banned.
Baron Cohen, who is due to appear in support of Martin Scorsese’s ‘Hugo, which is up for best picture, and he reportedly made it clear to Oscar bosses that he wanted to show up to the red carpet dressed as the character of his upcoming film, ‘The Dictator,’ in which his character bears a striking resemblance to the idea of famous tyrants, including Saddam Hussein. This is what had Academy chiefs nervous, leading to the reports that they had banned him all together.
A spokesperson for the award show has came out and insisted that Baron Cohen has not been asked to stay away form the ceremony, though they are still unsure and waiting to find out exactly what he has planned.
The rep explains, “We have not banned him. We’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.”
Do you think SBC will push the limit on the red carpet?
