Oscar nominations came out today, and it was Brad Pitt’s Curious Case of Benjamin Button leading the pack with thirteen nominations.
Buttons was nominated for best picture, best director, best actor, and best supporting actress among many others, to which it should clearly come out on top as the night’s big winner.
Speaking of night, The Dark Knight achieved eight nominations, though the only one in a major category was for Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker. Heath posthumously won the same award for best supporting actor just two weeks ago at the Golden Globes.
Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of the actor, who was found dead at his apartment in New York City of a perscription pill overdose.
The sleeper of this years award season, Slumdog Millionaire, earned 10 nominations, and could potentially give Benjamin Button a run for his money, as it is hoping to win best picture, best director, and best adapted screenplay.
