Screenwriter Richard Fronduto filed suit with an LA court this week claiming that Disney bosses stole one of this ideas to create their money making machine of the moment, Hannah Montana.
Fronduto claims hat in 1990 he presented a script for a series titled ‘The Secret Life of Sindi,’ which told the story of a 13-14 year old girl who had a secret life as a pop star, and was being raised by a single parent who also doubled as her manager. Sindi, in his script, also had a best friend who was in on her secret.
The man claims he pitched the idea to Disney back then, and they convinced him to turn it into a two hour pilot, which then never saw the light of day.
Fast forward 19 years, and we have the phenomenon known as Hannah Montana. Fronduto is suing for his name to be put on all future episodes with a ‘created by’ credit, as well as damages.
